Our Studio
Welcome to Sweet Santosha! Whether you are new to the practice of yoga or new to our studio, here you can find the answers to all of you burning questions…
Yoga Curious?
What’s a Yoga Class Like?
We offer a number of different yoga class styles (see class descriptions) and each teacher brings to the class their own unique style. The word yoga means union or yoke; this practice helps us unite the mind, body, and breath.
What do I wear / Do I need fancy pants?
No fancy pants required! Please wear clothing that is comfortable and easy to move in such as leggings or loose fitting pants and a tank top or t-shirt. What feels comfortable may depend on the class. For heated vinyasa classes, dress to sweat! You might prefer shorts, cropped pants, and tank tops for the heated classes. For non-heated and slower moving classes and restorative classes you may want to layer.
Are all of the classes hard?
That depends on how you define “hard….” Vinyasa flow and power vinyasa classes invite physical challenge and lots of movement, which may feel “hard.” While slower flows, yin, and restorative classes may not appear as physically challenging, these classes encourage deep release in the body and challenge the mind to stay present and connect to the body without the distraction of movement.
Are all of the classes hot?
Nope! We have a number of both heated and non-heated classes throughout the schedule. Please check the class description to see whether it is heated or not.
I am not very flexible, is that ok?
Absolutely! Physical flexibility is not necessary to practice yoga. Stick with your practice and you may be pleasantly surprised by how quickly you notice increased flexibility.
I am recovering from an injury, can I still come to yoga?
Yes, but please check with your health care provider first to make sure yoga will not pose a health risk. Let the instructor know that you are working with an injury so that they can show you modifications to keep you safe and supported in your practice.
